New Media Certificate

I started my New Media Certificate journey in Fall of 2022. I wanted a more competitive edge, and decided that this certificate program would match up perfectly with what I want to do.

NMIX 4010 – Web Development Projects

Project 1

We were tasked with making a website of any category. I chose to do ‘Places to Eat in New York’. It had three different pages (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) and it looked… okay. But it was my very first time coding, so I was very proud!

The breakfast page

The Lunch Page

The Dinner Page

Project 2

There is a franchise cupcake shop in my town called Smallcakes, and I decided to remake it. With this project, we used Bootstrap. I liked this project a lot, and was so happy with how it turned out. We had three panels. The first panel we simply used Bootstrap. The second panel, we took a Bootstrap theme and inserted out information, but did not change the CSS. Finally, for the third panel, we used the same theme, but we were finally able to edit the CSS. I added the colors and fonts from the original Smallcakes website, and made the panel just like the original Smallcakes website!

Project Three

This was our first WordPress project. We were to make a news and commerce page. This was my first experience with WordPress, and I did not understand it. It did not feel as intuitive as coding, and I was getting very frustrated. However, I was able to make great websites. For the news website, I remade Pitchfork, and for the commerce page, I remade The Body Shop. For the commerce page, we also used WooCommerce to add our products to our page.

Final Project

For our final project, we were tasked with choosing what we want to do. I decided I wanted to re-imagine/remake a website. I chose Coca-Cola. I used some new WordPress plugins, such as WP Forms, and MetaSlider, as well as WooCommerce, which I have used before. I also added in some CSS to make the images jump when you hover over them.

NMIX 4410 – New Media Capstone

This class is to show all that we have learned throughout our time in the New Media Certificate Program. My group worked with our client Jeff, who founded Life League. Throughout this semester, we created deliverables for Jeff and were able to present our website and findings at SLAM this year.
